Accessing your Gale statistics

Enter the following URL
http://www.gale.cengage.com/usage/

Click on
LOG IN to access statistics



Enter your User ID and password.
This can be obtained from Gale
















Select type of report you require.  The most common areUSAGE BY DATABASE  for your database subscriptions and
EBOOK RETRIEVALS
  for individual eBook usage



Select DATE RANGE
from the drop down text box





Select the date range  YEAR, MONTH and DATE  you require statistics for 



There is an option to separate
in-house and remote statistics

Select individual databases by clicking on the title of the database, or obtain statistics for all databases  by clicking SELECT ALL

Once you have made your select click FINISHand the report will run. 


The report will automatically open in your browser when completed or you can have the report sent to your email.  You will be prompted for this option while the report is running
Your finished report can be saved, emailed or copied into excel if desired

Downloading MARC records for your GVRL eBooks

To access to your GVRL MARC records click on the following link:
http://access.gale.com/cgi-bin/marc_merge/listfiles.pl
The following page will appear:






Insert your Location ID
Leave all other fields blank


Click Continue



The following screen will appear with all your eBook purchases
Click Uncheck all

Tick the boxes  you require MARC records for


Click Merge selected records

This step may take a few minutes based on system speed and amount of files to download but you should then see the following page








Right click Download records and save ib a folder as a marc file (.mrc)

The records should be ready to upload into your library management system.  If you need assistance doing this I would advise speaking to your LMS vendor.

You should not need to alter your eBook URLs, however if you do need to alter the record prior to uploading in your LMS; the following free MARC edit program is available to download.

Adding a widget to your library webpage


Your can add a search widget to your websitor or blog.  This enables students to search directly from the search box in the widget.


These are the following options open to you when embedding a widget onto your website.  These scripts include ones suitable for blogs and igoogle pages;

Javascript and iFramesThese options allow you to copy and paste your widget into the HTML of your Web page.

HTML (Create your own)This option allows you to grab the entire HTML code for the widget and customize as needed. It does not include any style or graphics so that you can fit this into any spot on your Web site needed.

iGoogleSelect this option to have your Gale widget added instantly to your iGoogle page

Google SitesThis option allows you to add the widget to your Google site. Google sites include blogger
